About Brian. When it comes to the financial side of finding, evaluating and owning a practice, I am your guy.
If you landed here and you made it all the way to the page about ME, you probably guessed that I know a thing or two about buying a dental practice. I help A LOT of dentists buy practices and while I’m not arrogant enough to think I know it all, I’ve seen quite a bit and can help you avoid some of the pitfalls.
I am passionate about helping dentists like you get from where you are today to ownership of your own practice. I love helping dentists understand the financial impacts of one of the biggest decisions in their life!
Not sure if you’re looking at a good practice? I can help. Not sure if the practice you’re looking at is too expensive? I can help with that, too. Have a huge pile of student loans, and a little nervous about adding on a big practice loan to your debt load? You’re smart. AND I can help you see why practice ownership MAY be your best choice.
I have worked one-on-one with hundreds of dental practice owners, all focused on making their money work for them.
I’m currently in the process of creating the “How to Buy a Dental Practice” podcast series, a 12-episode series designed to give you the basic knowledge necessary to feel confident in finding, evaluating and buying a practice of your very own. The series has other dentists who have been successful in their transitions, AND some of the leading experts in the dental transitions industry.
The Technical Stuff
I’m a Certified Financial Planner
When I’m not working with dentists or updating the How to Buy a Dental Practice Blog, you’ll find me doing one of four things:
1. Being a financial planner for a select group of dental clients that I helped buy a practice. (Some relationships are too good not to continue.)
2. Volunteering in my community. I’m a scoutmaster for the local troop in my area. And…yes…there IS a dentistry merit badge! I also organize the annual “friends of BYU Golf Tournament” which raises enough money to give 5 students scholarships every year.
3. Playing tennis or mountain biking!
4. MOST importantly, playing with my four awesome kids and my beautiful and talented wife.
My favorite hobby is mountain biking. I love it. When I was in college in Utah I went with a group to Moab and brought my $100 college bike on a whim and took it on the Slickrock trail. I’ve been hooked ever since. I’ve biked all over Utah, Idaho, Washington and even did some one-off trips to Whistler, British Columbia and Asheville, North Carolina.
I’m a total Star Wars nerd. I grew up knowing WAY too much about the Star Wars universe and never totally grew out of it. Now I have four kids to indoctrinate and I have been pretty successful. We have a countdown going to the next movie coming out, and even the baby in the family knows who makes the text alert sound on my phone (R2-D2).
My favorite memories tend to be made on trips to new places. I have a map in my office of the US and I stick little yellow pins in all the places that I’ve visited and done something. (Just sleeping in a hotel doesn’t count!) The map is filling in pretty well, but there are still quite a few blank spots and I want to fill them in with my family and friends.
In short, I’m a pretty normal guy who loves to help dentists like you make one of the most important decisions of your career – buy a good dental practice!
